Woman shot in Northeast DC as bullets fly late Sunday morning

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A woman was injured in a late Sunday morning shooting in Northeast D.C., prompting an active investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Kenilworth Avenue NE at approximately 11:37 a.m. following reports of gunfire. At the scene, they located a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital. Police confirmed she was conscious and breathing at the time of transport. Her current condition is unknown.

No suspect information has been made public, and police have not disclosed a possible motive behind the shooting.

Investigators continue to canvass the area for evidence and speak with potential witnesses. The case remains open.
