Woman shot in abdomen outside Brooklyn building, suspect flees

BROOKLYN, NY – A woman was hospitalized early Saturday after being shot in the abdomen outside a building on Nostrand Avenue, police said.

The gunfire erupted around 12:50 a.m. in front of 3573 Nostrand Avenue, where the 38-year-old woman was standing.

An unidentified individual opened fire, striking the victim once before fleeing on foot.

EMS rushed the woman to One Brooklyn Health–Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.

Police investigating shooting

Detectives from the 63rd Precinct canvassed the area for surveillance footage and witnesses as the investigation into the motive and identity of the shooter continues.

Suspect remains unidentified
