Woman shot on Liberty Heights Avenue in early morning Baltimore gunfire

BALTIMORE, MD – A woman is recovering in the hospital after being shot just before 1 a.m. Thursday on Liberty Heights Avenue, as Northwest District detectives continue to investigate the overnight shooting.

Officers responded to the 3500 block of Liberty Heights Avenue at approximately 12:56 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found a 37-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Medics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where she is being treated for injuries that police say are not believed to be life-threatening.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation. Detectives spent the early hours of the morning canvassing the area for evidence and possible surveillance footage. No suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made at this time.

The stretch of Liberty Heights Avenue where the shooting occurred is a well-traveled corridor in Northwest Baltimore with residential and commercial traffic. Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward.
