ERIE, Pa. – Erie Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman suspected in a theft and fraud case earlier this month. She used a less-than-elaborate disguise, putting on a wig before entering the bank.
What she didn’t do was change her outfit, as she was seen on other surveillance video wearing the same distinct outfit, which helped police tie her to the bank fraud incident.
The incident occurred Aug. 11 in the 1100 block of East 38th Street in Erie, according to the department. Police allege the woman wore a wig in an effort to disguise her appearance.
Investigators have released images that they say show the same woman both with the wig and without it.
Police Release Images Showing Suspect With and Without Wig

The Erie Police Department announced the identification effort Friday morning as detectives continue investigating the Aug. 11 case.
“The suspect wore a wig to disguise herself,” police said. “Included are images of the suspect with the wig, and without the wig.”
Police described the investigation as involving both theft and fraud, but did not disclose what was allegedly stolen, the amount of any financial loss or how the suspected fraud occurred.
The department also did not say how investigators obtained the images or what led them to conclude the woman pictured was involved.

Anyone who recognizes the woman or has information that could help investigators is asked to contact Detective Schroeck at 814-870-1333.
