WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he has revoked former President Joe Biden’s security clearance and halted his access to intelligence briefings, citing national security concerns and a precedent set during Biden’s presidency.
“There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account. “Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings.”
Trump referenced Biden’s 2021 decision to block him, as a former president, from receiving intelligence briefings, a courtesy traditionally extended to past commanders-in-chief. He also pointed to Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report, which described Biden as having “poor memory” in its assessment of his handling of classified documents.
The White House did not immediately comment on the decision. It remains unclear whether Biden had been receiving regular intelligence briefings since leaving office.
