Teen on home monitoring busted in gunpoint robbery after scooter holdup
Baltimore, MD — A robbery on a city street involving a scooter-riding suspect and a stolen watch led to the arrest of a 15-year-old already under court-ordered monitoring, after investigators tracked his movements and found him days later inside a stolen vehicle.
The incident began around 3 p.m. on April 2 in the 100 block of North Calhoun Street, where a 14-year-old boy was approached by a male suspect riding a scooter. Police said the suspect displayed a firearm and demanded the teen’s watch before fleeing the area.
Officers obtained a detailed clothing description of the suspect, which became a key part of the investigation.
The following day, detectives requested data on juvenile offenders on home monitoring who were in the vicinity at the time of the robbery. By April 6, investigators identified a 15-year-old male whose recorded location placed him at the exact scene, moving at a speed consistent with scooter travel.
Later that evening, at approximately 8 p.m., Southeast District patrol officers, with assistance from aviation units, located the suspect in the 1600 block of Charlotte Avenue. Police said the teen exited a stolen vehicle before being taken into custody along with another 15-year-old.
Both juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Justice Center, where investigators confirmed the passenger as the suspect in the Calhoun Street robbery.
Police said the teen was wearing the same clothing described during the robbery and was found in possession of the victim’s watch.
Officials also confirmed the suspect had been on home monitoring related to a prior case involving a shooting of a 13-year-old and had previous arrests tied to assault incidents and drug possession.
The 15-year-old has been charged with armed robbery as the case moves forward.
