Dreaming of a big Powerball jackpot win became somewhat of a reality for a Jarrettsville resident last week. While chasing jackpots, the Harford County man calling himself “Dreamweaver” won a $150,000 Powerball prize in the Feb. 24 drawing.

The 26-year-old told Lottery officials he only plays Powerball occasionally. The Jarrettsville man decided to buy a ticket soon after a family conversation that predictably turned toward a favorite subject: speculation on how each of them would spend a whopping Powerball payout. When “Dreamweaver” found himself at Wawa #559 in Street, he decided to chase his jackpot dream.

His $15 quick-pick ticket matched four out of five numbers plus the Powerball, which is normally good for a $50,000 payout. Because “Dreamweaver” added the Power Play option to his wager, he saw the 3x multiplier drawn that evening triple his prize to $150,000. He was one of 12 players nationwide to win a third-tier prize.

“Dreamweaver” said he discovered his luck the night of the drawing. He first saw the numbers flash across his television screen and then compared the winning numbers to his ticket. “I said to myself, ‘No way, this can’t be happening!’ ” said the winner.

His prize will go to good use, “Dreamweaver” said. The home services specialist reports that the pandemic has created a demand for home improvement services like his. After going nearly a year without a day off, he plans to use the funds to celebrate a little, catch up on a few things and load up his rainy day fund.
