On Friday, March 26, 2021 at about 9:30a.m., Portland Police officers attempted to serve a warrant on a home in the 3700 block of Southeast Brooklyn Street. The resident, a 50-year-old male who was wanted and believed to be armed, left the home in a vehicle. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but refused to yield and circled back to the home. He is believed to be alone in the house.
Officers have been negotiating with him since, but he has refused to come out. He has made threats to the public and officers. At 3:30p.m., the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were activated to assist.
Out of an abundance of caution, a shelter in place order was ssued for the blocks between Southeast 36th Avenue to Southeast 38th Avenue, Southeast Woodward Street and Southeast Tibbetts Street. Residents are asked to stay inside their homes in that area. Currently no homes are evacuated.
