PRINCE FREDERICK, MD – A 16-year-old girl disappeared in southern Maryland just before the weekend, launching an urgent search across Calvert County as investigators race to locate her.

Makenzie Birchett, described as 5-foot-3 and 132 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, was last seen on Friday in the Prince Frederick area. The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office released the alert on social media just after 10 a.m. on Sunday, appealing to the public for any leads.

Officials have not disclosed what Makenzie was wearing when she left or whether foul play is suspected. They have not said whether she left on foot or was possibly picked up. She was reported missing under case number 26-8548.

Investigators assigned to the case have asked that anyone who may have seen Makenzie or has information about her possible location contact Detective Christopher Murphy. The teen’s last known sighting was somewhere within the Prince Frederick area, but officials have not released further details about the circumstances of her disappearance.
