20-Year-Old New Jersey Man Killed, Second Victim Injured in Southwest Philadelphia Shooting

Philadelphia, PA — A 20-year-old New Jersey man died and another was wounded after a double shooting in Southwest Philadelphia on Saturday, with police now offering a $20,000 reward as they search for those responsible. Officers responding to reports of a person with a weapon found two victims shot on the 5200 block of Chester Avenue.

Miguel Quinones-Barreto, of Haddonfield, was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:09 p.m. The second victim, a 25-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to his right arm and was listed in stable condition.

Victims found minutes after 911 call

The shooting was reported around 4:51 p.m. Saturday, drawing officers to a busy stretch of Chester Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia. Both men were discovered at the scene with gunshot wounds and rushed to the hospital within minutes.

Police have not released details about what led to the shooting or whether the victims knew each other.

No arrests as reward offered

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and confirmed that no arrests have been made. Detectives are working to identify suspects and determine a motive.

To encourage tips, officials announced a $20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
