TAKOMA PARK, MD – As reported yesterday on Shore News Network, an off-duty Pentagon police officer who shot and killed two men he suspected were breaking into a car at his Takoma Park condo complex is now being charged for the double-murder.

David Hall Dixon shot and killed two suspects he believed to be breaking into a car on Wednesday after they failed to obey his order and attempted to flee the scene.

Takoma Park Police report that at 5:03 am. police responded to a shots-fired incident in the parking lot of the Takoma Overlook Condominium complex. Officers were met by an off-duty Pentagon police officer whose name was withheld by police.

Dixon stated he suspected the two men were breaking into a car and they failed to obey his direction. Then they fled and he opened fire, striking and killing both men as they attempted to drive away from him.

Later, the two men arrived at Prince George’s Hospital where they both died from their gunshot wounds.

Takoma Police Chief Antonio Devaul said Dixon’s statements contradicted each other to different agencies. He confirmed that the two men shot dead were breaking into vehicles. He said Dixon had no law enforcement powers in the state of Maryland and was acting as a lone citizen, not representing himself or any other agency.

“We encourage people not to take action when they see a crime,” he added. “But be good witnesses, call us and allow us to handle the situation.”
