Man arrested for shooting murder in Tucson


TUCSON, AZ – Officers from Operations Division East were dispatched to an apartment complex located at 6775 E. Golf Links Rd. for a report of a shooting on April 22, 2021, at approximately 3:20 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with gunshot trauma near a walkway. Officers immediately began rendering aid until Tucson Fire personnel arrived and continued life-saving efforts. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Sadly, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was declared deceased. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Chad Aaron Hill.

Homicide Detectives were notified and responded to continue the investigation. Detectives believe that Mr. Hill and the shooting suspect were initially involved in a verbal confrontation. During the confrontation, Mr. Hill was shot and the suspect fled from the area.

No other injuries were reported and the suspect was not located. Through interviews and evidence recovered at the scene, detectives were able to identify the suspect as 37-year-old Antonio Ulysses Collins. Soon after detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Hours later, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police officers from the Buckeye Police Department advised that they located and detained Antonio Collins near Miller Rd. and Interstate 10 in Buckeye, AZ. Mr. Collins was taken into custody without incident near a truck stop. Tucson Homicide Detectives traveled to Buckeye where they continued their investigation. Antonio Collins was subsequently booked into the Maricopa County Jail on his arrest warrant. He is awaiting extradition to Pima County where he will be booked into jail for 2nd Degree Murder.
