Two sent to hospital after motorcycle crash in Manchester

Manchester, NJ – On Monday, September 6, 2021, at approximately 1:30 pm, officers from the Manchester Township Police Department responded to the intersection of State Highway 70 and County Route 571 to investigate a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and four-door sedan.

Upon arrival, officers observed a black, 2012, Toyota Camry on the northbound grassy portion of the shoulder of County Route 571 and a black, 2020, Harley Davidson Motorcycle facing east on the westbound shoulder of State Highway 70. The investigation revealed that the Toyota Camry was attempting to make a left turn from State Highway 70 east to travel north onto County Route 571. The Harley Davidson Motorcycle was traveling west on State Highway 70 prior to the crash. The Toyota Camry had a green arrow indicating a left hand turn from State Highway 70 east onto north County Route 571. As the Toyota Camry began to accelerate and navigate the left hand turn the vehicle was impacted on the front driver side bumper by the Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

The impact of the crash caused the driver and passenger of the motorcycle to be ejected off the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Paul Logue, age 55 suffered injuries to both legs and arms, and was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ by medevac helicopter where he was listed in stable condition. The passenger of the motorcycle, identified as Teresa Logue, age 50 suffered extensive injuries to her left leg, and was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ by medevac helicopter where she was listed in stable condition. Both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were from Clermont, Florida and were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. The driver of the Toyota Camry, identified as Mary Antonell, age 61 of Manchester, NJ, did not suffer any injuries as a result of the motor vehicle accident.

Assisting at the scene were EMTs and Firefighters from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, and Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, but at this point, the disregard of a traffic control device is the contributing cause of the motor vehicle accident. This crash is being investigated by Patrolman Conner Yatauro of the Manchester Township Police Traffic Safety Section.
