Union City Peeping Tom Arrested After Recording Woman Inside Her Home

UNION CITY, NJ – A man who is a convicted child sex offender has been charged with invasion of privacy after he was caught illegally recording a woman inside her Union City home.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said on Tuesday, that members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit filed charges against Mario Lopez Esquit, of Union, for recording a woman inside of her home without her consent.

Lopez Esquit was charged with one count of Invasion of Privacy in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-9b(1), a crime of the third degree. He was processed at the Hudson County Correctional Facility where he is currently being detained on other charges.


He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on the latest charge today. The Prosecutor’s Office has also filed a motion for detention which is tentatively scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Suarez said Lopez Esquit was previously arrested on January 18, 2022 for possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
