Westfield Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

WESTFIELD, NJ – Police in Westfield have reported the following incidents that occurred recently in the community that required police response.

A female resident responded to WPD Headquarters to report a suspicious incident. She stated at approximately 1720 hours while inside a business on the 200 block of Elm Street an unknown man approached her and repeatedly attempted to make contact while touching her arm. There was no crime committed, however, the female felt uneasy and deemed the incident suspicious. The subject who approached her is described as a black male with short black deadlocks appx. 22 years old in all dark clothing.

Alfredo Colalillo was placed under arrest on the strength of a no bail NCIC warrant out of Hillsborough Municipal Court pursuant to motor vehicle stop on East North Avenue near Hillcrest Avenue. He was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters where he was processed and turned over to the Hillsborough Police Department.

A resident of the 100 block of Wyoming Street reported being a victim of identity theft and fraud. Victim stated unknown suspect(s) made two fraudulent transactions using her bank account. Both transactions totaling $737.51 were refunded by victim’ s financial institution. The victim did not suffer any monetary loss as result of this incident.

A resident of the 700 block of Carleton Road reported an incident of check fraud. According to the resident an unknown actor(s) stole a check which was endorsed to his utility company and endorsed it to an unknown person in the amount of $3,200.63. Victim reported this incident to his financial institution and was reimbursed the full amount.

A resident of the 400 block of Harrison Ave witnessed and reported a motor vehicle burglary / attempted auto theft to a vehicle parked curbside on the street. The resident states that at approximately 1:20 PM a blue Mercedes bearing an unknown New York registration was occupied by at least three males. The suspect vehicle stopped as if parking and an unknown tall thin male exited and approached a victim vehicle parked on the street. The suspect entered the victim vehicle, sat in it for a short period of time and then exited the vehicle. The suspects then fled the area in the blue Mercedes suspect vehicle.

A resident of the 200 block of Sunset reported a suspicious incident. The incident involved an individual driving slow in the neighborhood and then parking said vehicle. The individual then exited the vehicle and began walking around the neighborhood taking images of the area. There was no apparent legitimate purpose to the individual’s actions. There is nor further action or information at this time.
