WILKES-BARRE, PA -Police in Wilkes-Barre have announced that they arrested a New York City man for the shooting of a police officer on Sunday.
Police arrested Jayquan Jordan for a shooting that took place at around 11:27 pm.
According to police, at approximately 11:27 P.M. Wilkes-Barre Police Officers observed a silver vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed south on South Franklin Street.
Jordan had displayed a firearm to security at a local nightclub. Police said he was illegally carrying concealed and, in his attempt to drive away from the bar, struck unoccupied vehicles and failed to stop as required by the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code.
“Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle which eventually came to a stop in the area of Carey Ave and Academy Street. Officer Matthew Ogden approached the driver who immediately exited the vehicle. The driver, who appeared highly intoxicated, failed to comply with the officers commands and fell to the ground several times while attempting to flee,” police said. “As the subject fell to the ground a final time a weapon that he had in his possession discharged striking Officer Ogden. Officer Ogden in spite of his injuries was able to take the suspect into custody until backup officers arrived. Officer Ogden was taken to a local hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound to the leg. He was treated and released.”
Jordan was transported to police headquarters for processing and arraignment on charges related to the incident. The scene was secured by patrol officers and later processed by the Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Services Unit.

- Baltimore Police Foot Patrol Officers Arrest Suspect for Illegal Handgun
In the early hours of Thursday at around 3:18 AM, Baltimore Police officers, while on a foot patrol in the Unit of Light Street, were alerted to a potentially armed individual in the vicinity. The alert came from fellow officers monitoring Citywatch cameras, who provided a description of the suspect.
The police subsequently located a male matching the suspect's description on the West Lombard Street unit block. After investigating, officers arrested the 23-year-old man and confiscated a Taurus 9 mm handgun, which was identified as stolen property from Atlanta, GA.
The suspect has been taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility and is facing charges related to the firearm possession.
- Bronx Man Arrested for Deadly February Attack
Alejandro Gonzalez, a 23-year-old male from 1158 Boynton Avenue, Bronx, has been arrested on multiple charges including first-degree manslaughter and assault. Gonzalez is accused of assault with the intent to cause serious and less severe physical injuries with a weapon, alongside criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
The incident leading to these charges occurred early on Saturday, February 17, at approximately 4:41 AM, in front of 1206 Stratford Avenue. Police responded to a 911 assault call and discovered that emergency medical services had already transported the victim, a 46-year-old male, to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in a critical state. The victim, identified as Jesus Garcia-Desiderio of 1104 Manor Avenue, Bronx, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, February 20.
The investigation into this fatal incident remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events that led to Garcia-Desiderio's death.
- Body Of Woman Found by Police in Brooklyn
On Saturday at approximately 5:05 AM, police were dispatched to 175 Minna Street in Brooklyn following a 911 call reporting an unconscious woman. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 27-year-old female, unconscious and unresponsive with signs of bodily trauma. Emergency medical services declared the woman deceased at the scene.
The cause of death is pending determination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Authorities are currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of her family.
