MANHATTAN, NY – Antjuan Smith, a 19-year-old Manhattan resident, was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for shooting a 37-year-old woman in her eye through her apartment door’s peephole.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. announced the sentencing on Wednesday.
Smith was convicted on May 19, for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. He had fired a single shot at the woman’s left eye when she looked through her door’s peephole on November 1, 2021.
The victim, who had her 1-year-old twins at home during the incident, has permanently lost sight in her eye due to the shooting.
