Scooter-bound Jewelry Thief Targeting Women in the Bronx

BRONX, NY – Police are requesting public aid in identifying an individual connected to a series of robberies that occurred across the Bronx.

On July 31, a 32-year-old female at White Plains Road and East 233 Street was targeted by an individual on a motorcycle who forcibly took her purse. The purse contained a cell phone, headphones, and credit cards. The individual fled west on East 233 Street. The victim, who sustained minor injuries, sought medical care at Montefiore Medical Center.

On August 4, a 24-year-old female was approached from behind near Kingsbridge Terrace and West Kingsbridge Road. The individual snatched a chain from her neck and fled northwest. The victim sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

On August 11, a 25-year-old female near West 197 Street and Sedgewick Avenue had her purse forcibly removed by an individual on a scooter. The purse contained a cell phone, credit cards, and $50. The individual fled in an unknown direction. The victim suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

On August 23, a 48-year-old female near East 216 Street and Willett Avenue was targeted. An individual on a moped snatched her chain and fled in an unknown direction. The victim, who incurred minor injuries, declined medical attention.

Also on August 23, a 52-year-old female was targeted near Rochambeau Avenue and East 212 Street. The individual on a moped forcibly removed two chains from her neck and fled south. The victim declined medical treatment.

In all incidents, the suspect used a motorcycle, moped, or scooter. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish speakers. Tips can also be submitted online at CrimeStoppers.
