BRENTWOOD, NY — Suffolk County Police and Town of Islip Public Safety officials removed more than two dozen vehicles from Suffolk Avenue Thursday following community complaints about illegally parked cars clogging the area.

Suffolk cops impound 13 vehicles without plates in Brentwood crackdown

Officers from the Third Precinct partnered with town officials to impound 13 vehicles that had no license plates and were parked in violation of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, including in no parking zones and in front of a fire hydrant.

Key Points

  • 13 vehicles without plates impounded on Suffolk Avenue.
  • 11 additional vehicles were removed voluntarily by owners.
  • Enforcement followed community complaints about illegal parking.

Additionally, owners voluntarily removed 11 more vehicles during the enforcement operation, police said. Vehicles parked on public streets in New York must have number plates and comply with all parking regulations to avoid fines, impoundment, and other penalties.

Officials said the crackdown was initiated in direct response to ongoing resident concerns about safety hazards and congestion along Suffolk Avenue.

Suffolk officials stress importance of parking laws

The Suffolk County Police Department reminded residents that illegal parking, especially near fire hydrants and in prohibited zones, poses a public safety risk and will lead to enforcement actions.

Authorities encouraged the public to report illegally parked vehicles by calling 631-852-COPS to ensure quick response and maintain clear roadways.

The Town of Islip managed the impoundment process for the seized vehicles, and no injuries or altercations were reported during the operation.
