WILKES-BARRE, PA — A 35-year-old man was hospitalized early Saturday morning after being stabbed multiple times while reportedly attempting to stop a group assault on South Main Street, according to Wilkes-Barre City Police.

The incident unfolded around 6:51 a.m. when the victim, a Wilkes-Barre resident, exited a business in the 300 block of South Main and saw a man he recognized being attacked by three individuals. When he stepped in to help, one of the suspects allegedly turned on him and stabbed him several times in the torso.

After the stabbing, the victim left the scene on his own and returned home. A family member later transported him to a local hospital, where police were called and arrived to take his statement. However, officers say the victim quickly became uncooperative and refused to provide further information.
