22-Year-Old Arrested for Deadly Shooting on D.C. Metrobus

Gaithersburg, Md.—The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) has arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting on a Metrobus that occurred in February 2023.

On February 17, 2023, officers patrolling the Vista at White Oak apartments found a Metrobus pulled over on Lockwood Drive. Upon stopping to assist, they discovered that a shooting had taken place. Officers found 19-year-old Justice T’Ziyan Elliot injured and began performing life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, Elliot died at the scene.

Detectives identified 22-year-old Trevon Hatcherson-Ross of Washington, D.C., as a suspect during the investigation. Hatcherson-Ross was charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and reckless endangerment-related charges after an arrest warrant was obtained.

On Friday, June 14, Hatcherson-Ross was extradited from a detention center in Washington, D.C., to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
