33-Year-Old Man Found Shot to Death Behind Wheel in Hyattsville Area

Prince George’s County Police are searching for a killer after Brian Vasquez Rodriguez was found fatally shot inside the driver’s seat of his vehicle early Sunday.

HYATTSVILLE, Md. – A 33-year-old Adelphi man was found shot to death behind the wheel of his vehicle early Sunday in the unincorporated Hyattsville area, according to Prince George’s County Police.

Officers were called to the 2200 block of Lewisdale Drive at approximately 4:15 a.m. for a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found Brian Vasquez Rodriguez in the driver’s seat suffering from one or more gunshot wounds.

Police Find Shooting Victim Inside Vehicle

Officers and other first responders attempted life-saving measures after discovering Rodriguez wounded inside the vehicle.

He could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not said whether Rodriguez was driving when the shooting occurred, whether his vehicle had been parked or how long he may have been there before officers arrived.

Investigators also haven’t disclosed how many times he was shot.

The circumstances leading up to the 4:15 a.m. shooting remain under investigation.

Detectives Search for Killer and Motive

The Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.

“Investigators are working to identify the suspect(s) and determine a motive,” police said.

No description of a suspected shooter or possible getaway vehicle was released in the department’s initial announcement. Police also have not said whether investigators believe Rodriguez was specifically targeted.

Detectives are now asking anyone who may have seen or heard something around Lewisdale Drive early Sunday to come forward.
