Man found dead in alley behind Gist Avenue as Baltimore police launch homicide probe

Baltimore, MD – A 57-year-old man was found dead with upper body trauma in the rear alley of a Northwest Baltimore neighborhood Thursday afternoon, prompting a homicide investigation by city detectives.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., officers from the Northwest District responded to a “check-the-well-being” call in the 5300 block of Gist Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered the man in the alley suffering from visible trauma. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and have taken over the investigation. Police have not released the victim’s identity, the nature of the injuries, or any information regarding potential suspects or a motive.

The alley where the body was discovered sits in a residential area near the city’s northwest border, a section that has seen sporadic incidents of violence in recent months.
