73-Year-Old Elderly Man Assaulted on Manhattan Street

New York, NY — A 73-year-old man was assaulted while walking in Manhattan on Friday, July 26, 2024, prompting a police investigation.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 a.m. as the victim was walking southbound at the intersection of 7th Avenue and 23rd Street. An unknown individual approached him and slapped him in his face,

resulting in a laceration to his lip. Following the assault, the assailant fled into the West 23rd Street and 7th Avenue subway station and disappeared.

Emergency Medical Services responded swiftly to the scene and transported the elderly victim to Lenox Health Greenwich Village for treatment.

The NYPD is seeking information from witnesses or anyone present in the area at the time of the incident to help identify and apprehend the suspect involved in this unprovoked attack.
