76-Year-Old Potomac Woman Dies After SUV Crashes Into Barrier at North Bethesda Parking Garage

Montgomery County police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 76-year-old Potomac woman at a North Bethesda parking garage.

A 76-year-old Potomac woman died following a single-vehicle crash at a parking garage in North Bethesda, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.

Detectives with the department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit identified the victim as Marjorie Rothschild, 76, of Potomac. The crash occurred Monday at approximately 5:31 p.m. at the entrance to a parking garage in the 11300 block of Woodglen Drive.

Driver lost control entering garage

According to investigators, a blue 2016 Toyota RAV4 entered the parking garage from Marketplace Lane when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a cable barricade.

“The investigation has revealed that a blue 2016 Toyota RAV4 entered the parking garage off of Marketplace Lane when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a cable barricade,” Montgomery County police said in a news release.

An adult male passenger was transported to a local hospital with significant but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation continues

Detectives said the circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit noted that the investigation is expected to take several weeks to months to complete. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the unit at 240-773-6620.
