8-year-old hit by car in Chesapeake as driver charged with DUI

CHESAPEAKE, VA – A child was hospitalized Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Bainbridge Boulevard and Holly Avenue in Chesapeake, where the driver was later arrested for DUI.

The incident occurred around 7:34 p.m. on April 2. Responding officers found that an 8-year-old male pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. The child was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police identified the driver as 60-year-old Randolph Bias of Chesapeake. He was arrested at the scene and charged with driving under the influence.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances of the crash.
