Two lucky New Yorkers cash in on $50K Powerball prizes

NEW YORK, NY – Two New York Lottery players scored $50,000 each in the April 2 Powerball drawing, with winning tickets sold in Brooklyn and Hempstead, lottery officials announced.

One winning ticket was purchased at JOHN’S BROTHERS, located at 1718 Church Avenue in Brooklyn. The second was sold at DOUBLE DIAMOND FOOD MART at 196 Henry Street in Hempstead. Both tickets matched four of the five white balls and the red Power Ball to claim the third-tier prize.

Powerball drawings are held three times a week — every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. — with numbers drawn from two separate fields: one through 69 for the white balls and one through 26 for the red Power Ball.

Winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize.

The New York Lottery contributed $3.8 billion to public education in the 2023–2024 fiscal year, making it the most profitable lottery in North America.
