HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County Police Department has released details on several criminal incidents that occurred recently across the county, including commercial burglaries, a robbery, and a residential burglary.

Commercial Burglaries:

  • In Ellicott City, unknown suspects broke into Trek Bicycles on the 3200 block of Bethany Lane overnight between May 28 and 29. The culprits gained entry by breaking a rear window and stole two bicycles.
  • On the 8600 block of Washington Boulevard in Jessup, 3D Nails & Day Spa was also targeted by thieves overnight between May 29 and 30. The front door was broken, and the cash register was stolen.
  • Lark Brown Liquors in Elkridge experienced a burglary overnight between May 28 and 29. Suspects forced open the front door and absconded with cash.

Robbery Arrest:

  • A notable arrest was made following a robbery at Royal Jewelers in Columbia on May 28 at around 12:50 p.m. Malik Bryant, 22, of Columbia, was apprehended by police near the scene after he allegedly threatened store employees with a knife and stole watches. He faces charges including armed robbery and assault.
  • Additionally, two suspects were reported attempting to steal merchandise from Macy’s in Columbia on the same day at 6 p.m. They fled after physically confronting a store employee who tried to stop them.

Residential Incident:

  • In a residential area of Ellicott City on Samuel Joy Way, a suspect entered a home around 9:03 p.m. on May 28 but fled without taking anything.

Attempted Robbery:

  • Another incident occurred at the Safeway on Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City on May 24 at 9:28 a.m., where two suspects attempted to assault a store employee confronting them over stolen merchandise.

These incidents reflect a busy period for Howard County law enforcement as they respond to multiple cases of theft and burglary across the region.
