Pennsylvania police say no arrests can be made after bomb threats to drag queen story hour

LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with the Lancaster City Bureau of Police, has concluded its investigation into the bomb threats emailed on March 23, 2024, targeting the Lancaster Public Library and other locations.

These threats coincided with a Drag Queen Story Hour event that had faced significant backlash.

The investigation determined that the threats originated overseas and were linked to an account responsible for multiple bomb threats that disrupted similar events across various states on the same day.

Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams commented on the findings, noting that the nature of these threats is consistent with similar incidents from late 2023, which targeted Jewish institutions and schools, and recent threats aimed at events since April 2024.

“While an arrest cannot be made, it is important for the public to understand that these threats are the work of actors outside our community, state, and nation, aiming to cause widespread disruption,” Adams stated. “Such threats are unacceptable, and law enforcement remains vigilant in addressing and mitigating any threats of violence.”

Authorities assure the community that they will continue to treat all threats with utmost seriousness and maintain high alertness to safeguard public safety.
