Suspect Arrested for Assault and Battery on a Child in Dorchester

Boston, MA – On Thursday, July 4, 2024, at approximately 4:13 p.m., officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Manuel Cardoso, 44, of Boston, on charges of assault and battery (A&B) and kidnapping.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of 43 Wentworth Street. Upon arrival, they were informed of a gathering at the address where an unknown male had walked up the driveway, attempted to urinate on the side of the house, and engaged in conversation with several children.

The suspect was instructed to leave the area, but he then grabbed a child by the back of the neck and attempted to drag him towards the street. The suspect was physically removed from the property and fled the scene. Officers, given a description of the suspect, located and apprehended him at 21 Darlington Street.
