New York City Weather Forecast: Showers and Thunderstorms Expected

New Yorkers can expect a mix of sun and showers over the next two days as weather patterns bring a variety of conditions to the region.

Today, the city will see partly sunny skies with showers and thunderstorms likely to develop mainly after 2 PM. The high will be near 82 degrees with a south wind blowing at 5 to 9 mph. The chance of precipitation stands at 70%, with new rainfall amounts expected to be between a half and three quarters of an inch.

Tonight, showers and thunderstorms will continue, mainly before midnight. Some storms could produce heavy rainfall. Temperatures will drop to a low around 63 degrees with a light south wind around 6 mph. The likelihood of rain is high at 80%, with rainfall amounts ranging from a quarter to a half of an inch.

Thursday will see a considerable change, with only a slight chance of showers after 2 PM under mostly sunny skies. The day will be cooler with a high near 75 degrees and a west wind of 7 to 11 mph. The chance of rain decreases significantly to 20%.

Thursday night will be partly cloudy with temperatures cooling further to a low around 57 degrees. The west wind will continue at a gentle pace of 5 to 7 mph.

Residents are advised to prepare for potentially disruptive weather today and tonight, with clearer skies returning on Thursday.
