by Breaking Local News Report

Hagerstown, MD—A Hagerstown resident was arrested and charged on Wednesday for making violent threats against the Motel 6 where he was staying.

Michael Sean Hafer, 28, allegedly threatened to destroy the hotel located at 11321 Massey Boulevard by blowing it up and setting it on fire.

According to authorities, Hafer told other guests about his plans to make pipe bombs as part of his threat.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to these threats around 7:30 AM, calling in the Office of the State Fire Marshal Bomb Squad to inspect Hafer’s room and a nearby temporary storage unit.

After an extensive search, which included obtaining necessary warrants, officials did not find any explosive materials. This led to the conclusion that it was safe for guests in the forty-six occupied rooms to return.

Hafer has been charged with Threat of Mass Violence and two counts of Arson Threat and was released on recognizance from the Washington County Detention Center.
