New jersey soccer coach indicted for 30 counts for soliciting young players

FREEHOLD, NJ — Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced today that a local youth soccer coach has been indicted on 30 counts by a Monmouth County Grand Jury. The charges include a variety of sexual crimes against former student-athletes.

Ryan Gunsauls, 32, from Union Beach, faces severe allegations including four counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child by manufacturing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Additionally, he is charged with four counts of second-degree attempted endangering via manufacture of CSAM, eight counts of second-degree endangering via sexual conduct, and more.

The charges also encompass nine counts of third-degree distributing obscene materials to a minor, two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, and several other counts related to the possession and distribution of CSAM.

The case unfolded earlier this year following a disclosure by a juvenile who reported that Gunsauls solicited and distributed sexually explicit materials via a social media app.

This revelation led to an investigation by the MCPO Special Victims Bureau and the Union Beach Police Department, resulting in the identification of eight additional victims aged between 11 and 17.

Gunsauls was arrested in May and is currently held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. A motion to keep him detained during the ongoing legal proceedings was approved by a Superior Court Judge later that month.
