Second suspect arrested in fatal Dorchester shooting

BOSTON — A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Leudis Mejia Sanchez, 49, in Dorchester, the Boston Police Department announced Wednesday. The suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age, faces charges of murder, assault to murder, home invasion, and carrying a firearm without a license.

The shooting occurred on August 12, 2024, when officers from District C-11 responded to a call at 5 Trent St. They found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Sanchez was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the second victim survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, wanted on a warrant from Dorchester District Court, was arrested Wednesday morning by homicide detectives. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
