NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect linked to an auto burglary that occurred early Saturday morning in Newark.

According to Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé, police responded to a report of an auto burglary in the 300 block of Washington Street at approximately 4:20 a.m. on Sept. 14. The victim reported finding the rear driver-side window of his car broken and the vehicle’s interior ransacked. Approximately $15 was stolen.

Detectives reviewing surveillance footage observed a male suspect with a slim build, wearing a black hooded sweater and a black face mask, walking toward the victim’s vehicle.
