Baltimore, MD – A Gaithersburg resident renewed his interest in the Lottery after winning $50,000 in the Powerball Double Play drawing on September 9. The casual player held one of two winning Maryland Double Play tickets in that night’s drawing.

The winner claimed his third-tier prize last week at the Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “There’s no use in stopping playing now. I’m not getting older, I’m getting better,” he said.

Before his Powerball win, the Montgomery County resident frequently visited the MGM National Harbor casino. However, his Double Play win has shifted his focus to other interests, including renewed excitement for the Lottery.

An avid angler, he plans to use part of his winnings to buy a boat and complete some homeowner projects. He will also allocate some of the prize money into savings. Notably, he initially didn’t realize he had won $50,000 until his daughter told him.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Cedar Grove Store located at 23412 Ridge Road in Germantown. This marks the fifth $50,000-winning Powerball Double Play ticket sold in Maryland this year.
