A highly anticipated Top-25 showdown is set for Saturday night in Norman, Oklahoma, as No. 6 Tennessee travels to face No. 15 Oklahoma. The Volunteers are favored by seven points on the road, with the over/under set at 56.5 points. Tennessee’s potent offense is the reason for their status as touchdown favorites.
They currently rank second in the country in total offense and lead the nation in points per game, outscoring opponents 191-13 over the first three weeks of the season. However, it’s worth noting that two of Tennessee’s three victories came against Division 1-AA opponents.
Oklahoma, meanwhile, has a strong offense led by dual-threat quarterback Jackson Arnold. The Sooners also boast the 10th-ranked defense against the run, holding opponents to under 12 points per game. Despite this, they have yet to face an offense of Tennessee’s caliber, led by quarterback Nico Iamaleava and running back Dylan Sampson. A high-scoring contest is expected in Norman.
In another matchup, West Virginia hosts Kansas as both teams search for their second win of the season. The Mountaineers enter the Big 12 matchup as 2.5-point home favorites, with the over/under set at 56.6 points. Last week, both teams struggled, with Kansas losing outright to UNLV as 10-point favorites and West Virginia falling to Pittsburgh in the Backyard Brawl. When these two teams last met in 2022, Kansas won a 55-42 overtime shootout in Morgantown.
This season, the teams appear more evenly matched. West Virginia has been more productive on offense in recent weeks, scoring 83 points over the past two games, while Kansas has struggled since their Week 1 win over Lindenwood, an FCS opponent. Given the Mountaineers’ recent offensive output, Joe Wiz recommends taking the home team on the money line in this one.
