SEAFORD, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning that left two people dead and four others critically injured on Sussex Highway.

The fatal collision occurred on October 6 at approximately 1:34 a.m., when a 2016 Nissan Rogue traveling southbound on Sussex Highway collided head-on with a 2005 Honda Pilot that was driving northbound in the same lane, authorities said.

The front passenger of the Rogue, a 22-year-old man from Fayetteville, North Carolina, and an 18-year-old woman from Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, who was seated in the rear, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities are being withheld pending notification of their families.

The driver of the Rogue, a 22-year-old man from Washington D.C., and another passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Bethesda, Maryland, were transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, police said.

The driver of the Honda Pilot, a 24-year-old man from Georgetown, Delaware, was also hospitalized with serious injuries. A 40-year-old passenger from Georgetown, Delaware, remains in critical condition. Authorities believe impairment may have been a factor in the crash.

The highway was closed for about three hours while investigators processed the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Delaware State Police.
