Stamford, CT – The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on Friday. The incident took place near 690 Atlantic Street at approximately 11:52 a.m.

Officers arrived at the scene following a report of an SUV colliding with a utility pole. First responders found the vehicle’s operator, 71-year-old James Morley from New York, unresponsive inside. The Fire Department removed Morley from the vehicle and administered medical treatment.

Morley was transported to Stamford Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition before being pronounced dead. Investigators suggest that a medical episode may have led to the crash, with final conclusions pending from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The investigation remains open and the police are seeking any additional information or eyewitnesses. Sgt. Jeffrey Booth is leading the investigation, and anyone with information can contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad at (203) 977-4712.
