PORTLAND, Ore. — The mother of a two-year-old child who died from a suspected fentanyl overdose has been located and arrested, police said.

Mary E. Jacobo, 26, was taken into custody on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Seaside, Oregon, following a joint operation by the Portland Police Bureau’s Major Crimes Unit, the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit, Oregon State Police, Seaside Police, and the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team. Jacobo was arrested on multiple warrants and lodged at the Clatsop County Jail.

Authorities said Jacobo was found in possession of a firearm at the time of her arrest, which has since been seized. The Portland Police Bureau released a photograph of the firearm, but no further details have been provided.

Prior to her arrest, Jacobo had been sought in connection with several violent crimes, including a robbery at gunpoint, following the death of her child from suspected fentanyl exposure. Investigators had been searching for Jacobo since the incident and had warned the public that she was considered armed and dangerous.

Further updates from the police are expected as the investigation continues.
