Donovan Catholic Comes from Behind to Defeat Jackson Liberty

TOMS RIVER-The Jackson Liberty Lions led Donovan Catholic 5-4 in the second inning, but the Griffons mounted a 10 run rally to win their first game 17-7.

Starting pitcher Lindsay Nelson struggled, giving up 5 runs in just 2 innings, allowing 6 hits.  In relief, Kait Mulchahey finished the game, striking out 9 and giving up just two runs through the next four innings.

Karina Gaskins and Victoria Federico each drove in 4 runs.  Gaskins and Jayda Kearny both went 4-5.

For Liberty, Emily Dubiago went 3-4 and freshman Jessica Cannestro drove in 3 runs.

Donovan had 22 hits and 4 errors while Liberty had just 9 hits and 2 errors in the game.

Kayla Roncin and Jayda Kearny each celebrated their 100th career hit on Monday.
