NORTH BERGEN, N.J. — Authorities are investigating the death of a 48-year-old man who was found unresponsive in a North Bergen residence earlier this week, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office announced Thursday.

Juan Moyet, of North Bergen, was discovered inside a second-floor residence at 9028 Palisade Plaza shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, December 9. Responding officers from the North Bergen Police Department found Moyet lifeless and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:50 p.m.

Initially reported as an apparent head injury, the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined during a post-mortem exam on Wednesday that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, in collaboration with the North Bergen Police Department, is actively investigating the case.
