KYIV, Ukraine — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has raised concerns over a significant gap in reported U.S. aid figures, stating that Ukraine has received about $76 billion, far less than the $177 billion approved by Congress.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Zelenskyy challenged the notion that Ukraine had received hundreds of billions of dollars in direct aid. “When I hear – both in the past and even now – from the U.S. that America has provided Ukraine with hundreds of billions [of dollars] (177, to be precise, based on what Congress approved), as the president of a nation at war, I can tell you – we’ve received more than $75 billion,” he said.

The Ukrainian leader clarified that the aid did not come as direct cash transfers but largely in the form of military assistance, which he estimated at about $70 billion. He acknowledged that additional funds might exist within various programs but stressed that Ukraine had not directly received the full amount often cited in public discourse.

Beyond military aid, Zelenskyy also pointed to stalled humanitarian programs, including a $200 million energy-related initiative and other allocations for healthcare and border security. Despite the uncertainty over some U.S. funding, he expressed confidence in securing alternative support from European partners or internal resources.
