FREDERICK, MD – A bus driver from Frederick has won $50,000 with a Powerball ticket. The lottery ticket was purchased at the A-1 Mart on Himes Avenue in Frederick.

The winner, who has played the same random numbers for five years, bought the ticket for the drawing on February 22. Spending $10, she used her own numbers on all five lines. Upon checking the Maryland Lottery website the next morning while enjoying tea, she confirmed she was a third-tier winner.

In her excitement, she informed her son, who initially thought she had fallen and injured herself. His concern quickly turned to relief and happiness upon learning about the lottery win.

The winner plans to allocate some funds toward her son’s future college expenses, with the remainder designated for savings and investments. In her free time, she enjoys watching sports and going for walks.

The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, with a jackpot annuity estimated at $272 million and a cash option of $124.4 million.
