NEW CASTLE, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred early Sunday morning in New Castle, where a group of young suspects attacked an Uber driver and stole his vehicle.

Driver attacked after refusing large group

The incident took place around 1:30 a.m. on April 13, when the Uber driver arrived in the area of Dock View Drive and Harbor View Drive to pick up a fare. According to Delaware State Police, seven individuals entered his vehicle.

After the driver told the group he could not transport all of them, several refused to exit and began acting disorderly. When the driver stepped out to call 9-1-1, three suspects reportedly threw him to the ground, stole his phone, and drove off in his black Nissan sedan.

Fortunately, the driver was not physically injured during the altercation. The suspects were described as black males and females, believed to be of high school age. No arrests have been made as of Sunday.

The case is being handled by the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit.
