RIVERDALE, MD — Prince George’s County Police have released surveillance video and multiple images of a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of 58-year-old Adeyemi Martin of New Carrollton, as investigators continue to search for leads in what they believe may have been a robbery attempt.
On April 11 at around 10:05 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 6600 block of Riverdale Road following a report of an unresponsive person. Upon arrival, they found Martin suffering from gunshot wounds in a building stairwell. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives say video footage shows the suspect fleeing the area in a dark-colored sedan shortly after the shooting. Still images captured from the video show the suspect wearing a coat in some frames and without it in others, after what appeared to be a struggle with the victim.
The motive behind the killing remains under investigation, but police are examining the possibility that it occurred during an attempted robbery.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
