Police standoff at senior community captured on camera

BERKELEY, N.J. — A tense standoff unfolded overnight in the Holiday City Berkeley senior community as police surrounded a home and eventually took a man into custody after he exited with his hands up.

The standoff was first reported by Jersey Coast Emergency News on Facebook.

The incident occurred in the 55+ adult community in Berkeley Township, Ocean County. According to initial reports from Jersey Coast Emergency News, armed officers took defensive positions behind vehicles during the standoff, which lasted several hours before the man surrendered.

Police moved in quickly, taking the man to the ground and placing him in handcuffs without reported injury. The man’s identity has not yet been released.

As of Tuesday morning, authorities have not disclosed what led to the standoff or whether the man is facing any charges. No evacuations were reported and there were no injuries during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and police have not released additional information at this time.
