QUEENS, N.Y. — Police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to rape a 26-year-old woman early Friday morning before fleeing into the Woodhaven Boulevard subway station.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Hoffman Drive and Woodhaven Boulevard, according to the NYPD. Authorities said an unidentified man approached the woman and attempted to sexually assault her before escaping on foot toward the subway.
The suspect remains at large. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
The individual is described as a male with a dark complexion, standing approximately 6 feet tall and weighing around 175 pounds. He is believed to be between 20 and 30 years old.
“He was last seen wearing blue headphones, a surgical mask, a black jacket, and camouflage pants,” police said in a statement.
NYPD urges tips from public as investigation continues
The NYPD’s Special Victims Unit is leading the investigation. Surveillance footage from nearby areas and the subway station is being reviewed.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward. Authorities have not released further details about the encounter or whether the suspect and victim had any prior contact.
