On Tuesday at approximately 6:10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Polaris Parkway. Upon arrival, they found Joseph Suiter, 26, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 6:19 p.m.

Witnesses at the scene identified Elijah Roberts as the suspected shooter, police said.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant, and Roberts was taken into custody by Columbus SWAT officers at a nearby residence.

Because the incident occurred within Delaware County jurisdiction, Roberts was booked into the Delaware County Jail.

“The Columbus Division of Police (Facebook)” confirmed Roberts’ arrest in a post Thursday evening.

The motive behind the shooting has not been released as the investigation continues.

A man was shot and killed on Polaris Parkway and a 19-year-old has been charged in his death.
