YANCEY COUNTY, N.C. — A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his father following a Tuesday morning incident in the Ferguson Hill area, according to the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded in the early hours of July 22 and later charged John Claude Charlton with the murder of 59-year-old Virgil John Charlton.
The suspect is being held at the Yancey County Detention Center without bond.
“No further details will be released, as the investigation continues,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
